RE: Opinions: Small Companies running Domino ~August Xangeroverikle 14.Jan.03 04:29 AM a Web browser General All Releases; 6.0Windows 2000, Windows NT, Linux - RedHat
We are a small law firm with ten Domino seats. We got in very, very cheaply because we started with the IBM Small Business Suite For Linux, at $500.00 plus the seat licenses. We recently upgraded to R6. We administer/design/maintain/code, etc., in-house. Nothing fancy yet, just changes to the supplied templates to adapt them to our line of business. Once the Domino/Notes paradigm becomes clear many things become easily obtained. It didn't take much to set up a centralized mail and contact database for ALL of our contacts.. always up to date and instantly available. We have adapted the personal journal template to do case tracking and to keep our research. I am slowly converting over what we used to do in spreadsheets to Notes where appropriate... instant multi user access AND the data is SAFE. No virus infections and the linux server is rock solid.
My biggest problem is that everyone has gotten used to having the system up ALL the time so its hard to find a time to conveniently back it up.
For us it was price, security, and the completeness of the package... it had all the tools built in which we needed to win the war.
